The FHWA will host a one and a half day Workshop for public and private sector decision makers to discuss how we can better connect and work together to address multimodal freight transportation on a megaregion scale in the Texas Triangle Megaregion. Transportation officials and planning representatives from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana will explore ongoing research and collaboration, best practices, and opportunities to coordinate on topics such as goods movement and economic development from a megaregional perspective. The Workshop will take place from 8:30 to 5:00 PM on September 14 and 8:30 to 12:15 on September 15. It will begin by exploring how to improve current transportation conditions through multi-jurisdictional collaboration. Topics will include ports, freight and rail planning, economic development, and automated vehicle opportunities in the Megaregion. State DOTs and MPOs will highlight planning activities and challenges, and private sector representatives will discuss freight issues from a user perspective. Participants will then identify and discuss priority needs, potential collaboration actions, and next steps to remain engaged. This is a free, invitation-only event for Executive Directors, CEOs, FHWA staff, and other key transportation leaders. Limited seating is available. Please register for the Workshop no later than September 4, 2017.
